Type: Utah motorcycle accident, Utah motorcycle traffic crash

A terrible motorcycle crash took place in Midvale yesterday that left the rider with serious injuries.  According to KSL News, Robert Horn was riding his bike at the speed limit on Midvale’s Center Street late in the evening Wednesday night.  An oncoming pickup truck, whose driver did not see the motorcyclist, attempted a left hand turn in front of the motorcycle.  Horn could not avoid the accident and instead decided to lay the motorcycle down in order to minimize the crash.  However, Horn and the bike became wedged underneath the truck and were subsequently dragged over 40 feet.  Thankfully, Horn was wearing a helmet, which police believe saved his life.  He sustained serious chest and head injuries and was rushed to Intermountain Medical Center in critical condition.  He has been upgraded to serious condition and is expected to recover.

This horrible accident demonstrates the life-saving effects of safety helmets.  Had Horn not been wearing a helmet, he easily could have lost his life.  Please remember to always wear your helmet and other safety gear in order to protect yourself if you are involved in a motorcycle collision.
