If you are a drive a motorcycle, you may want to hone your riding skills through a motorcycle training and education class.  Even the most advanced rider can learn a thing or two from these classes.  Statistics show that 90% of all motorcycle accidents nationwide involved a rider who did not have formal training on motorcycle operation.  An education class will help prepare you for the risks and dangers of the Utah roadways and help perfect your riding abilities.

In the state of Utah, motorcycle operators are not required to take a training course in order to obtain a motorcycle driver license.  However, basic riding courses provide many advantages to riders and should not be overlooked.   Beyond enhancing your riding abilities, a training class can also prove beneficial to your pocket-book.  Insurance companies often provide better rates and more incentives to riders who have taken a basic training course.  Furthermore, some motorcycle manufacturers offer tuition aid to motorcyclists to help pay for the costs of the course.

Utah Rider Education provides several classes to motorcyclists in the state to help them prepare for the road.  Each course is certified by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation.  The most common course is the Basic Rider Course, which consists of two classroom sessions and two additional sessions on a riding range.  This course is for beginning riders and covers the fundamentals of motorcycle operation such as stopping and turning, evasive maneuvers and corner judgment.

If you are a motorcycle veteran, you may consider taking the Experienced Rider Course.  This course is designed to fine-tune your motorcycle skills and break some bad driving habits.  The course is 5 hours long and will greatly improve your riding skills.  In addition to the basic and experienced group courses, motorcyclists can enroll in private instruction courses for one-on-one attention.
