Researchers from universities in Italy, Germany, France, and the UK gave a broad overview regarding safety devices and fuel-efficiency of motorcycles. One safety recommendation shared by Steffen Peldschus, a physicist at Ludwig Maximilian University in Germany, is to add a bottom guard rail to the sides of highways. It could save the lives of motorcyclists who sometimes strike the rail posts while sliding during an accident.

According to the WHO 2008 Global status report on safety, about half of the 1.27 million people that die yearly in road accidents around the world are pedestrians, motorcyclists and cyclists.

It can be dangerous on our roadways for motorcyclists. Many car and truck driver’s fail to keep a proper look-out for motorcycles and even fail to yield the right-of-way. Negligence on behalf of car and truck driver’s can be fatal for motorcyclists.
